Location Marquees at Blenheim Palace

A production at the imposing former home of Winston Churchill, Blenheim Palace needed a number of marquee structures to support a location shoot for a period piece.

While the build was mostly straightforward, we were required to position the largest structure between some existing trees because this was the only practical space of that shape and size we were able to build on.

All the structures were weighted using numerous 1000 kg weights to avoid surface damage.  The effectiveness of these and the overall strength of the structures were very much tested during the 100 mph gusts of Storm Eunice.

Four large white PVC marquee structures, plus an extension were requested for different purposes:

Costume, Hair & Make Up and Crowd Dining Marquee

To accommodate the numbers a giant 25 metre x 135 metre premium marquee on a 3m leg was built and then divided into three sections. An 20m x 25m extension was then added to increase the crowd dining area with a level cassette floor using a seamless connection.

Five sets of double doors with ramps provided access and emergency exits.

Crowd Holding

A large crowd holding area was needed so we provided 25 metre x 60 metre premium marquee with a board floor. Four sets of double doors with access ramps were also fitted.

Crew Dining

The crew dining area was a 12 metre x 30 metre clear-span marquee on a 2.3 metre leg, board floors and carpet throughout. Four personnel doors were fitted with access ramps.

Props Marquee

A 12 metre x 30 metre clear-span marquee on a 2.3 metre leg, board floors and carpet throughout was provided to store the props throughout the shoot.
